The Muse, Jessie Burton.
« The painting had caused an almost alchemical transformation in him. The new Isaac was solidifying, like smile into gold, before their very eyes. He was a real artist, something about him they could all sense but not quite touch – however much they wished to.«
Intertwining two tales – set in Spain in 1936 and in Britain in 1967 – the book is a page turner about an enigmatic painting. The masterpiece is the key and the excuse for stories of love, betrayal, art and sense of belonging.
I really enjoyed reading it even if there were some bumps on the road (writing tricks that were a bit too visible in my opinion…)
